The Evangelical Covenant Church of Springfield
Why the Christianity Explored Program?

Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of Church, Christians and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome. We will respect your background, culture and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.  All materials are free.

Dinner and Then Exploration
At 5:45 p.m. a meal is provided, so don't worry if you have to come  straight from work. After dinner we gather together to go over the previous weeks reading and discuss any questions that have arisen out of the discussions. We are committed to getting you out and on your way home by 8:00 p.m. so at 7:50 we discuss any prayer requests and then the leadership team will close the evening in prayer. Of course, if you would like, you are welcome to stick around a bit longer to discuss any further issues you might have.

How long is the course?
It is a 7 week course. We sometimes add 3 additional sessions depending on the class. We think you will like it, but if it is not for you, there is no commitment.

Is it uncomfortable?
We hope not. It's not a church service. There's no formal praying, singing or clapping, and you won't be asked to read loud. Although we do take prayer requests so that the leadership team can be praying for any needs..

Am I going to get preached at?
Each evening includes a talk (or DVD) designed to explain an aspect of Christian belief and to stimulate discussion. Hopefully you'll find it challenging and amusing. The group leaders will facilitate discussion and try to answer questions.

How is Christianity Explored different than other courses?
The focus is on Mark's Gospel, with its emphasis on who Jesus was, what his aims were, and what it means to follow Him. It makes Christianity Explored quite different.

Do I have to speak?
Not if you don't want to. You are welcome to come and just sit and listen.

How long have you been doing this course?
ECC Springfield has been part of the worldwide Christianity Explored Program for over 10 years.  Hundreds of folks have gone through the sessions.  Many have received a new and wonderful understanding Christianity and of Jesus Christ.  The program has been updated three different times to keep it up to date and relevant.
