ECC SpringfieldOur Leadership
Senior PastorMatt Marzluft
Our new Senior Pastor, Matt Marzluft, is delighted to call New England his home for the first time. He and his wife, Laura, have been married for twenty-nine years, meeting in northern California, where they both grew up. Their daughter, Sarah, is a U.S. Marine, who was married this summer (2016) to Brian Drinkard. Following his graduation from the University of California in Davis, Matt served as an InterVarsity campus staff member for six years. He then received his formal theological education from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree that led to two Presbyterian (USA) pastorates, one in Minnesota for ten years.
From that point on he felt called by God to serve multigenerational Covenant churches, particularly those with a heart to empower upcoming generations for Christian leadership. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2009 after developing a project utilizing the tool of appreciative inquiry for church revitalization. Already a fan of the Patriots, he enjoys working out, listening to jazz, camping, and learning foreign languages. He is excited to see the gospel at work at ECC Springfield — bringing faith in Christ through the power of the cross, drawing every believer into life-giving relationships, and connecting everyone to a vital ministry with the end of communicating God’s transforming love to a hurting world.
Youth PastorTim Ramgren
Pastor Tim is the son of a Covenant Pastor who has been involved in youth ministry to some degree since 1989, and as a youth pastor since 1994. Since graduating from North Park College in 1993 with a Youth Ministry/Psychology degree, he has served at churches in Attleboro, MA; East Hampton, CT; and Rockford, IL. He joined the ECC Springfield family in July 2007. Of possible interest to New England Covenanters, Tim was on staff at Squanto for three consecutive summers (92-94).
Pastor Tim loves New England, not because of the ocean, seafood, or its winters, but due to the amazing rocky terrain best enjoyed astride his Kona steed (i.e. mountain bike). He also enjoys playing basketball, foot ball, ultimate Frisbee, cards, and a number of made up games spawned in his warped mind that he employs with the youth. Tim also loves movies, and a variety of obscure Christian bands primarily found in the alternative/heavy/screamo/ metal/extreme categories of rock-and-roll.Pastor Tim has been happily married to his wonderfully supportive wife Kerri since 1996. They have three adorable children in Jacob, Ruby and Nathan, each of whom you would undoubtedly run into (literally) if you were to visit church on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening.
